Orange Butter

It’s that time of the year in the deep south. The oranges are sweet and plentiful.

One of my neighbors gave me a huge sack of oranges and I decided to make orange butter.

I love making fruit butters. I usually make a lot of different fruit butters around Christmastime and give them out as gifts.

Here is how I made the orange butter. Anybody can do it!

Orange Butter

1 lb. (4 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature

zest from 2 oranges

1/3 cup  fresh squeezed orange juice

2 cups powdered sugar

Using a hand mixer, beat together the softened butter, zest, and juice. Slowly add the sugar.

Spread on warm biscuits, toast, or scones.

***Note – you can place in small containers in the fridge or roll into “logs” in plastic wrap and foil for the freezer. Fruit butter freezes well!

I gave out these small containers to family at Christmastime!
