Pineapple Condensed Milk Cake
1 box yellow cake mix
1 20 oz can of crushed pineapple in juice, DO NOT DRAIN
1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk (such as Eagle Brand)
1 8 oz container Cool Whip
1 8oz can crushed pineapple in juice, WELL DRAINED
Mix the cake mix according to directions, omitting water. Add 20 oz can of crushed pineapple to the batter. Mix well.
Pour into a greased 9×13 casserole dish or cake pan. Bake according to directions or until golden brown (about 30 minutes for my oven.)
Let cool for about 10 minutes. Poke holes all over the cake with a fork or a butter knife.
Pour the condensed milk all over the cake, covering the entire surface completely with it.
After a few minutes the cake will soak it up.
In a separate bowl mix together the cool whip and small can of drained crushed pineapple.
When the cake has completely cooled, spread the cool whip mixture on top of the cake.
Refrigerate.
Do you mean sweetened condensed milk (such as Eagle Brand) instead of condensed or evaporated milk (which we call canned cream) in my part of the country)? The cake looks delicious!
Recipe says , Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk.
The grocery boy shelf stocker will most likely get it for you. Hope this helps.
Do you mean sweetened condensed milk (such as Eagle Brand) instead of condensed or evaporated milk (which we call canned cream in my part of the country)? The cake looks delicious!
Yes, sweetened condensed milk aka Eagle brand. Hope you get the chance to try this!
I’m going to try to bake this cake, It looks and sounds Yummy 😋😋
Try cream of coconut in place of sweetened condensed milk
Yes!! That is delicious
Try mixing both cram of coconut and eagle brand – wonderful!
This cake looks divine….thank you for sharing.
This sounds and looks great. Must hit the kitchen😉
Your ingredients list say a 20 oz can of crushed pineapple. Directions say 28 oz can of crushed pineapple. which is correct?
It’s 20oz. Thanks for pointing out the typo. I corrected it!
It’s 20 oz not drained (for cake) and 8 oz drained (for topping)
This sounds so dang good. I hope to make it very soon. Thanks for the recipe.
Don’t know why but this reminds me of a dessert my mom used to make years ago. She called it rice and pineapple pudding. Sooo good!
Donna
It’s the best!!!
I make a Top Secret Banana Chocolate cake with Eagle brand it’s so good
Oh yum! I’ll need the recipe for that!!!
Would love this chocolate recipe also.
This too sounds like it will be a regular…yum! Luv chocolate. Pls feel free to send to my E.M. TNX
Can I have the recipe please
OMG LoriAnn, I would absolutely love to have your recipe for banana chocolate cake. It sounds amazing.
Can I add chopped pecans to the cake mix? Or will it mess up the baking of the cake? Thanks.
It should not mess up the baking of the cake.
This sounds so delish! Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to make this + so easy. I already have all the ingredients too. 😍
Making this now!! Can’t wait to get it out of oven and finish it! It looks amazing!!!❤️🤗😍
I’ve never made this cake with the pineapple but sounds wonderful. I do make a coconut cake similar to this where you poke holes and pour Eagle Brand on top. It’s delicious too. I even bet a coconut/pineapple cake (mixed) would be great.
Would love this coconut recipe. Love these kind of cakes & coconut is a family favorite. Have similar type – but it is a rum cake. Knocks your socks off… literally speaking!
my recipe calls for eagle brand and coconut cream, the kind you make pina colata drinks with. Then top with cool whip and shredded coconut.
Coconut cream is not the same as cream of coconut which is what you use for Pina coladas.
I have a tin of condensed coconut milk in the cupboard so I’m going to try that instead of ordinary condensed milk.
Pour creamed of coconut instead of the condensed milk for the coconut flavor and add cocont flakes over the topping . Or to jaz it up a bit 1cup of sourcrean 3/4 cup of sugar stir till sugar is dissolved add 2 pkgs of frozen cocont and the cool whip stir well and ice the cake and refrigate then dive in. Yummy yummy
Hello. I have just found your site and am so thrilled that I have! My Mother used to make this cake only not with a mix (She did it from scratch) and somehow this one (of many) has been lost…. Until now!
I thank you so very much for posting this miraculous recipe!
It will bring back so many happy memories, for all of us!
Cindy Chong (nee: Roach) 🥰
Looks yummy! Would it work using a gluten free cake mix and what can I use instead of Cool Whip? Thanks.
Can someone explain to me what cool whip is as we don’t have that in Australia is there anything that resembles it that you can compare it too. Could you just whip up some cream and fold the pineapple into it and spread that over and refrigerate. ?
It is a frozen whipped topping. Try making homemade whipped cream.
Do you have dream whip, if so you can use that instead
I make something similar but use cream of coconut instead of the condensed milk. So yummy!!!
Cream of coconut sounds so good! I gotta try that
this is a tres leche cake minus 2 of the milks.
So Easy to make such a wonderful cake I topped it with coconut and chopped pecans then the cool whip. Thanks for the recipe
This I gotta make!! Do you think coconut cream could replace the sweetenened condensed milk?
I bet it would be delicious. Let me know how it turns out!
You could add some whole milk to sweetened condensed milk and top with home made whipped cream ..which would make it a pineapple tres leche cake…lol….I make a coconut one that way except use coconut milk…it is amazing!!!
This cake turned out amazing! Will definitely make again.
Could not find an 8oz can of pineapple so just toasted some unsweetened coconut and sprinkled on the whipped topping. This is like a Tres Leche cake.
I just mixed up one and also added fresh strawberries and blueberries into the mix with the pineapple. Blended it with my mixer. It is smelling divine in the oven. I hope that it comes out OK since I added the extra berries. I’m also going to add the strawberries and blueberries into my Cool Whip along with the pineapple. Can’t wait!
That’s a very interesting… well try your idea as well. Makes sense what with the pinapple.
This cake is totally delicious!! Followed directions and it turned out great.
The cake is really really sweet. Too much for my taste. I love tres leches cake and it kind of reminded me of it, but the sweetness is too overpowering. My young son liked it, but no surprise because he likes sweets. Maybe adding evaporated milk would help.
Just made this for Christmas. The cake itself was delicious and moist before I poured the condensed milk. The milk made it taste almost like a Tres Leches cake. Whole family loved it. Will definitely be keeping this recipe in rotation.
I made this cake for our Christmas party,it was awesome,my friends and family loved it. Thanks for sharing. I’m making one for my daughter in Law’s Birthday next week; only I’m gonna add toasted coconut on top.
Looks great !! But can you use can icing mixed with the pineapple in stead of the cool whip my husband does”t like cool whip topping .
I’ve never tried that. I bet it’s delish!
Look up an ermine frosting and make it, add 8 oz crushed pineapple drained really well. This makes a not so sweet pineapple frosting that was originally created for red velvet cake but rocks on this one
So directions say mix according to box cake directions, but omitting water. So do I still add eggs and oil??
Yes.
OHHH this cake is DELISH! I followed the recipe and I wouldn’t change a thing.. Plan on making it again and again 🙂 Thank You for sharing.
Made this cake yesterday and it was divine. Everyone in the family loved it!
Yes, its even better the next day. But, we have very little left over for tomorrow.
What weight of cake mix? Duncan Hines which is the brand I prefer is currently producing 15.25 ounces. Many older recipes were based on 18 ounce boxes. Just need the clarification.
Recipe sounds delicious and super easy.
Thanks
I use Duncan Hines
l am going to try this but l am going to make my own whip cream it is much better than cool whip
I didn’t have the small can of pineapple for the topping, so I’m adding sweetened coconut and some coconut flavoring to the topping. Should be delicious! Like a Pina Colada cake. 😋😋
That sounds absolutely amazing
Any idea what the sugar, carbohydrate, and calorie amounts are?
This is splendid just the way you described it….Thank you so much!
I need to bring a dessert for football party. We won’t be eating till halftime. I won’t be able to refrigerate the cake for a couple hours. Do you think it will be okay with the cool whip topping?
I think it’ll be just fine!
before pouring eagle brand on the cooked cake as directed on the box, do we cool the cake first, could I just add skorr pieces after pouring on the eagle brand?
Thanking you in advance
You pour the Eagle brand onto the poked cake while HOT, so it will ooze down into the holes all smooth and warm and rich……ooohhhhweee I can’t wait to make this bad boy!!!
This sounds amazing and will try it. What do you think if I added pecans or walnuts to cake,? And maybe even in the frosting?
This was a hit! I added some sweetened coconut instead of pineapple to the cool whip and put some maraschino cherries on top. Will definitely make again.
I just made this on Monday & it turned out AMAZING!! However, I had so much going on that I some how forgot to put the large can of pineapple in the cake batter before I baked it!! Lol … so really the pineapple only ended up in the whipped topping. It was perfect though! Not too sweet. My husband LOVED IT!! Thats all that mattered since it was for his BIRTHDAY. Oh , and another thing… I let it refrigerate over night, like someone suggested, perfect texture! I will definitely be making this again. Thank you for the great recipe!!!
Yummy yummy
How do I get a printed recipe ,, this cake sounds delicious ,
Take a screen shot with your phone.
Can I use a spice cake or carrot cake in place of the yellow cake?
Can you use a white cake mix instead of yellow..would it be as goid?
I’ve never tried it but it can’t be bad!!
I have made this cake..and it is So Good! I stuck to the recipe, but I put chopped pecans in the cake, and some in the icing… it reminds me of a Hummingbird cake..but with less of the ingredients — so much easier.. and So Tasty!!
Can I just use whip cream instead of Cool Whip or will it look flat after awhile? I’m not a fan of Cool Whip but your recipe sounds so delicious
I made this cake and it was so easy and came out perfectly.
I made this and used Loco Lopez. After putting that on I covered it and put in Fridg over nite. Took to a friends house for dessert and top with the Cool Whip and toasted coconut and it was DELISH!!!! Everyone said it reminded them of Tres Leches cake. Excellent will make again.
How does that one cake mix absorb all that crushed pineapple and condensed milk and be in a 13×9 pan ? Shouldnt u use 2 cake mixes?
Aloha, I’ve come across a coconut condensed cream. I bought it , cause I like coconut but haven’t put it to use yet. This would be a recipe that I could combine the flavor with the pineapple. Humm, I just may give it a try.
Yes it sounds like a tres leches cake minus two of the leches. (Leche is milk in Spanish)
My absolute favorite cake. Yummy
Can you use Angel food cake in place of yellow cake?
Never tried it. I’m sure it’ll work. Let me know how it turns out!!!
