These Amaretto Strawberries can go on shortcake, parfait, vanilla pudding mixed with homemade whipped cream, or spoon it into a glass of champagne.
The options are endless.
Quarter the strawberries. If the strawberries are cut too small, they will get mushy.
Add the zest of half an orange. (about a tsp)
Sprinkle in some powdered sugar.
Give it a good stir.
Add a couple tbsp. of Amaretto. Heaven. Stir well and put in the refrigerator to macerate for a few hours.
You can put this on anything.
Here are some ideas:
– Make a trifle and layer angel food cake cubes and homemade whipped cream. Top with the strawberries.
– Spoon some strawberries into a glass of prosecco for a fabulous cocktail.
– Make vanilla pudding and fold in homemade whipped cream. Top with strawberries.
– Place the strawberries in between cake layers.
Macerated Amaretto Strawberries
1 pint strawberries, quartered
1 tsp orange zest (about half an orange)
1/8 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp. Amaretto (Disaronno)
Place the quartered strawberries into a bowl. Add the orange zest and sugar. Stir well.
Stir in the Amaretto.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator to macerate for at least 2 hours.
Serve.
