This recipe for smothered pork chops is so effortless. Literally my 5 year old could probably make this.
When I was in college I lived with my brother. When I would cook smothered pork chops with rice and gravy his friends would magically show up for dinner.
It is comfort food x 1000.
Here is how I make it.
Season your pork chops with Tony’s.
Brown both sides in olive oil.
Set aside on a plate.
Brown onions and garlic in the same pot. Add a splash of water and scrape the brown bits off the bottom (season with salt and pepper. ) Add pork chops back to the pot.
Then mix this magical stuff with water and add to the pot.
Bring to a low simmer, cover and cook for 45 minutes or until chops are tender (stirring occasionally).
Serve over rice.
Smothered Pork Chops
4 center cut pork chops, bone-in
Tony Chachere’s Cajun seasoning
1 onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup Tony Chachere Brown Gravy Mix
2 1/2 cups water
Season pork chops with Cajun seasoning.
Brown in olive oil on both sides.
Remove from pot, set aside.
Saute onion and garlic in the same pot.
Add a splash of water and scrape the brown bits off the bottom.
Add pork chops back to the pot.
Whisk together gravy mix and water and add to the pot.
Bring to a low simmer and cover. Cook for 45 minutes or until chops are tender, stirring occasionally.
Serve over rice.
